History

National Gas Company was set up with a vision to meet LP Gas consumption need in the region. During the late 1970’s, the need to set up a local bottling plant was prompted by the problems faced by the local gas dealers, who had to travel to Dubai and Abu Dhabi to collect cylinders.Moreover there were frequent shortages due to Omani dealers being given last priority. Our first Chairman, Mr. Mohd Abdul Rasool Al Jamali, a true visionary, was instrumental in setting up the National Gas Company.

  • 1981Birth of NGC

    National Gas started its operations in the Sultanate of Oman.

  • 1987 - 2003Bottling Plants

    NGC set up seven LPG bottling plants at strategic locations in the Sultanate of Oman.

  • 2005Aerosol

    NGC started Aerosol Propellant Gas production and sale to customers.

  • 2006UAE Expansion

    NGC started its export LP Gas Business to UAE.

  • 2008Synthetic Natural Gas

    NGC pioneered the first SNG system in the Sultanate of Oman.

  • 2008NC+ Revolutionary Cutting Gas

    NGC started Cutting Gas business in the Sultanate of Oman.

  • 2009NGC Energy FZE

    NGC formed its 100% subsidiary arm “NGC Energy FZE” in the UAE.

  • 2009Township Gas System

    NGC set up the first integrated township gas system in Sohar, Sultanate of Oman.

  • 2010NC+ Franchise

    NGC started Cutting Gas business internationally in the UAE & other countries thereafter.

  • 2010D Cylinder

    NGC commenced D Cylinder business in the Sultanate of Oman.

  • 2011Largest SNG System

    NGC set up the largest SNG system for a major international steel plant in Saudi Arabia.

  • 2012Acquired Shell LPG

    NGC acquired Shell’s LPG Business in West Malaysia.

  • 2014EOR

    NGC explored EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) segment with the help of LPG.

  • 2015KSA Expansion

    NGC started its fully owned entity in KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) for addressing LPG market demands..

  • 2016Lubricants

    NGC launched lubricants division.
